replacing a 2007 Prius motor mount pretty straightforward
We have a 2013 Prius Plugin. When the fan comes on (auto setting) it starts at its highest setting and produces an unusually loud noise. When the fan drops to a lower speed the noise stops. We took the car to a shop (not Toyota) who told us they at first thought debris in the fan motor but after closer inspection said the fan was beginning to fail.
chicago. Vehicle: 2007 Prius. Model: One. Just started - i was on a highway trip, and noise started while on the highway - noise has stayed about the same since then. no noise when parked at idle or in "maintenance mode" (where the gas engine is forced on). Noise is first noticed once i get over 15mph ish. Noise gets louder the faster i go, but
This article presents the design of a motor/generator for a flywheel energy storage at household level. Three reference machines were compared by means of finite element analysis: a traditional iron-core surface permanent-magnet (SPM) synchronous machine, a synchronous reluctance machine (SynchRel), and an ironless SPM
1. Check the Driver Display, Then Step on It. By now, you probably know that the Prius is no longer a slug; passing a truck no longer requires as much planning. That''s true of every Prius
But it''s not a grinding noise. When you first turn on the car, you get a few clicks in the rear of the car as the system relays engage. Also during this time, depending on engine coolant temp compared to coolant heat storage container, a servo valve may change position, after which the coolant heat storage pump runs.
Put the newly cleaned positive terminal back on first, then move to the ground side. Once the corrosion is cleaned, put the battery terminals back on the posts and see if your Prius starts. If it does, make sure to let it run for a bit just in case the battery isn''t fully charged before shutting your car off. 2.
The Hybrid EV Prius is one of the many ways we are reducing carbon emissions to drive toward our Beyond Zero vision. Prius is a part of the Plug-in Hybrid EV Family. We currently offer more low and zero emission vehicles combined than any other automaker, to give customers numerous choices to reduce their carbon footprint.
The document describes a simulation of a transmotor-based series-parallel hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applied to a 2004 Toyota Prius. Key aspects summarized: 1) A Simulink model was created to simulate the HEV with a transmotor replacing the planetary gear and generator of the Prius. 2) Simulation results for vehicle speed and battery state
When the fan comes on (auto setting) it starts at its highest setting and produces an unusually loud noise. When the fan drops to a lower speed the noise stops.
As you know, reverse is electric only. It may be sound of motor. They could have, also, added a buzzer as warning to pedestrians. Some states now require noise generators on EVs and hybrids.
Location: Wilmington, NC. Vehicle: 2010 Prius. Model: III. white2011 said: ↑. I hear a distinctive electric motor noise -- similar to the electric antenna noise in our 4Runner -- almost always immediately after applying the brakes (no matter whether hard or soft). The noise lasts maybe one or two seconds.
Hybrid Car Comparison: 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, 2003 Toyota Prius Then we were dazzled by the Toyota Prius''s multiple electric motors and video-game energy-flow
There are two types of braking in the Prius. Friction brakes (or conventional brakes) through the brake pads/rotors using direct input from the brake pedal through hydraulic lines, assisted by an electric brake pressure accumulator to help with braking power. This accumulator will make a buzzing noise frequently when pushing the brake pedal.

So, open the hood and remove the black plastic cover that covers the front part of the radiator. The noise make is on the driver''s side of the car a has the bit of blue plastic. Unplug the noise maker. Push at
Vehicle: 2010 Prius. Model: III. I have a very similar noise in my 2010, it''s now done 141,000 and never had a transmission oil change. When I''ve had a listen around for it I would have said it comes from transmission and not engine. I have a very limited knowledge of cvt transmission but my first thought was the drive belt making that
Prius'' artificial engine noise demonstrated, explained. The Toyota Prius V is quiet, too quiet for pedestrians to hear. So Toyota has gone and made it louder. A demo video released by Toyota
Dear diary, not too shy. No way around it, the Prius'' EPA 54/50/52 mpg city/highway/combined is stellar. A Real MPG result of 56.4/56.2/56.3 shows you don''t have to pamper the accelerator pedal
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION announced today the nationwide launch of the all-new Prius hybrid passenger vehicle through "Toyota" and "Toyopet" dealers. The Prius, first launched in 1997 as the world''s first mass-produced hybrid passenger car, has earned a strong reputation worldwide for its innovative
Fuel economy is everything for the Prius, and the LE model boasts 57/56/57 mpg city/highway/combined. Start going up the trim levels, and it drops to 52/52/52 mpg for the XLE and Limited trims
Engine sound correlates closely with the amount of power the engine is providing (or absorbing in the case of B mode). Engine sound is only very loosely
There are two possibilities for a back-and-forthie noise like what you recorded there. One, as Ed suggests, is an HVAC servo. (That really counts as three

It''s the high pitch buzzing/whining. This happens at all speeds up to even 68mph. It happens whenever I am on the gas (even lightly) or when coasting to slow down. It changes pitch when I start applying brakes again even lightly. The noise is there on EV and on hybrid mode. Battery is 76% life left.
Don''t know about the C, but the standard model has a pump that moves hot water from the engine to an insulated tank after you shut down. It whirs for a few seconds after you turn
The same presentation tells the power is the same (21 kW). Actually it appears that there is less energy stored in the new battery, since the modules have the same energy storage capacity and their number is reduced from 38 to 28. That makes a 28% decrease, but we have also to take into account the state of charge range allowed
11. Timing Cover Leak. The third generation Prius has a tendency to leak oil around the front timing cover. This is a fairly common problem in a lot of Toyota models because the FIPG (Form In Place Gasket), which is basically just sealant, wears out after a couple of years.
Maryland. Vehicle: 2005 Prius. Model: N/A. Hello Fellow Prius Owners, I am the original owner of a 2005 Prius that now has about 108,000 miles on it. Recently I have heard a revving noise coming from my engine while coasting down a mountain on my commute home. I have not seen any warning lights telling me something is bad.
Reason i bring that up is a) could dirt have gotten to the engine causing the problem or (2) is the noise insulation lost because of loosing the plastic covers I dont believe i hit anything hard. I think i lost a "screw" or two and high speeds the wind made it come down causing it to hit the road and progressively made it worse.
The electric motor gives maximum torque at zero speed (ideal for fast takeoff) and allows energy to be recovered and put back into the battery during braking,
So within the last few months I''ve noticed that my engine now ticks. 2010 prius. 225,000km. No coolant or oil loss (knock on wood) EGR / intake system cleaned. New plugs, pcv. Occ installed off pcv. CVT fluid changed. Mobile1 0w20 oil.
If you hear this sound when the car is just sitting parked, making the noise every few seconds or minutes without pushing the brakes, that means your Brake
At low speeds or in stop-and-go traffic, Prius vehicles often rely solely on electric power. The electric motors produce a whirring sound, distinct from the rumble of gasoline engines. This noise is more pronounced during acceleration or when the battery is being charged through regenerative braking.
a small fraction of the initial kinetic energy needs to be processed by the electrical energy storage device and U. S. Dept. Energy, "Evaluation of 2004 Toyota Prius Hybrid Electric Drive
Vehicle: 2011 Prius. Model: II. I have a 2011 Prius with 75000miles. The energy monitor (car icon with ICE, Electric motor, and battery) no longer displays the arrows showing energy flow. The wheels on the car are still animated when the vehicle is in motion. I have searched through the forums and see that several people have had a
1. Warning Lights and Messages. A prominent symptom of inverter pump failure is the illumination of warning lights on the vehicle''s dashboard. The most common indicator is the Hybrid System Warning Light. Additionally, drivers might receive messages such as "Check Hybrid System" or "Check Engine.". 2.
